About Our Place

Our Place is a one-act-play, written by Terry Wayne Gabbard. It mixes Comedy and Drama, telling the different stories of couples, friends, and families at a lakeside dock. We get an inside look at the relationships of these people and how a single place - as ordinary as a dock - could mean so much to so many different people. This typical dock serves as a setting for five different stories, including one focused on a teenage couple out on their first date, a woman gone to reminisce about old times with her dad, a family attempting to explore the outdoors, another couple struggling while coming to terms with their soon-diverging paths in life, and a troubled boy trying to distance himself from his unrelenting sister. These touching anecdotes assemble into a singular story at the end, portraying an honest feeling both heart-wrenching and heart-warming, one that epitomizes the sense of sharing a special place with someone.

Our Place is a special story, one that has touched all of us, and we sincerely hope you all enjoy the show.

Strawberry Hill Players

The Strawberry Hill Players are the drama club at Stamford High School. We are composed of very talented actors, singers, dancers and all around wonderful people! (If we do say so ourselves) Our club includes both the theater sector, in which performers, our costume crew and tech troop put on plays and musicals for the community to enjoy, and SHIP, the Strawberry Hill Improv Players, who bring hilarious sketch comedy to life in their productions! Each year we have five productions, including a fall play, a spring musical, senior scenes, CDA, and Knight of Cabaret. We have won awards at the Connecticut HALO competition in past years, including: 2019 Best Performance by a Cast in an Ensemble Play for Noises Off, Best Comedic female performance in a Musical and Best Contemporary Musical for the Addams Family, and 2020 Best contemporary Play and best Scenic Design for Elephants Graveyard. We have also competed at CDA, The Connecticut Drama Association, in past years as well, where we bring a 45 minute piece to compete against other schools in the state.

This year (due to the circumstances) we will be having our fall project here, online for everyone to watch, rather than in our auditorium like we usually would. We are very proud to present this years fall project, Our Place!
